It is amazing to see how every single corner of Rome speaks about holiness… there is no excuse not to do my best to be a saint. God wanted me to be His instrument and left me in charge of a group of 25 pilgrims of my new parish in San Antonio, Texas, where my community and I (the Marian Community of Reconciliation) moved one year ago. As a group we were able to experience how “God is love,” as simple as it sounds. Living a real friendship in God makes us closer to the miracle of love. And as we gathered in St. Peter’s Square, looking at all those people around us, listening to their singing, watching their flags waving, seeing their faces, we realized that this is the Church. we are the Church, and we are called to be the hope of the world. Jesus is alive in every single one of us, and we are the holders of that hope. As we went together to kneel down in front of an incorruptible saint, or to visit the remains of our favorite saints, or walking to different basilicas and churches, one more awesome than other, we were able to experience the quiet sound of silence and awe. We all realized it at the same time…that our faith is a real blessing. This is my treasure, where my heart belongs. This and nothing else! And this was one of the best presents that God has ever given me: to be able to share this experience with my biological family, with my brothers and sisters of the community and with my “mission family”, my friends from San Antonio. I hold every single one of them in a special place in my heart, and my appreciation and love for them cannot be expressed with words.
