CLM and the Evangelization
of the Culture
The world today, together with wonderful technological
discoveries and other accomplishments, also offers
a sad scene of ruptures. We see with concern the fracture
that exists between faith and culture. As Pope Paul
VI affirmed, the rupture between the Good News and
the culture, is the drama of the present times.
Together with benefits for humanity, we find the aggressive
signs of a "culture of death", as Pope John
Paul II calls it. At the side of that obvious manifestation
of the most serious attempt against the life and dignity
of the human being, is subtly present the functional
agnosticism "brewing broth" in which the
"culture of death" grows and develops.
The CLM is convinced that the New Evangelization of
our people, to which the Holy Father and the bishops
had persistently invited to do, involve to take the
Good News of Our Lord Jesus to the roots of the
culture of the human being. Therefore there is nothing
human that is alien to the proclamation of the Gospel
The
evangelization of culture is a fundamental dimension
of the life of the CLM. This is why we wish to take
the Good News to all areas that have a special significance
in the configuration of the culture. Thus, listening
to the signs of times, the CML looks toward the "new
aeropagi ", that constitute an area of apostolate
that waits for the presence of those called to this
vocation to take the message of the faith of the Church
to the most remote corners of the cultures. Together
with areas that had traditionally received attention
- like education, the arts and the media - facing
the coming times, its imperative to give attention
to the new information technologies.
